That’s it. My youngest daughter just submitted her college applications and the stress surrounding this event visibly left the house. Next thing I know, she’ll move out. My husband retired 3 years ago and we have now all the time and flexibility to do whatever we want to do. As for me, I want to see the world. We have though, over the last 15 years lived in three continents and have done a fair amount of traveling already. But I have ants in my pants! I need to get out of a structured life with daily routines for now.
So my first step yesterday was to start my research online. Quite chaotic really, hopping from one site to another. Searching for inspirations and just the right amount of adventure and luxury. I understand that once you hit 50, you might look for slightly different experiences than back in the days. My biggest challenge is to combine my ideas of enjoyment with my husbands preferences to travel. I’d charter a sail boat and circumnavigate the world, or buy a sheep farm and restore the old castle to new beauty, unfortunately that’s not his cup of tea. I guess, we all have to face those challenges as we get older, and I’m determined to make the ultimate travel plan that fits both of us.
I went to our local book store in the afternoon. I still prefer books surrounding me and I returned home with a bunch of Lonely Planet books and a really nice book from blogging couple honeyTrek.com, called Ultimate Journeys for Two. Such a great source for ideas and itineraries. Thank you, Mike and Anne! Ok, so this is my list of countries that I came up for the next year. I'm open for itineraries and other suggestions along the road. I'm sure we will need it :)
