It's all you ever hope for: 7 day outlook - fresh snow and blue skis

For this trip, we decided to take the train from Munich airport to St. Anton. It's a very convenient and inexpensive alternative to renting a car and driving. In the village of St. Anton, there really is no need for it, so safe that money and spend it in one of the amazing restaurants, this little village has to offer. The train has two stops where you need to change trains, one in Munich East and then in Innsbruck. I strongly recommend making reservations for the journey as the train gets very crowded in season. I've used the DB Navigator app to book my trips. I forgot to make a reservation for a taxi from the train station to the hotel once we had arrived, so we had to wait for almost half an hour before a taxi was available. You want to safe that hassle and book in advance.

Another thing you want to do after you have checked in to your hotel, is get your ski equipment if you need to rent. I have excellent experience with the local shop Intersport https://www.intersport-arlberg.com. They have multiple location in the Arlberg region and you can visit any of their stores if you trouble with the equipment during your stay. Most hotels can get you the ski passes done in-house. That proves much faster than standing in line at the gondola station.

The snow was really nice for the first day on the mountain, but the best was really that the sun was out from dawn to dusk. We stayed around Galzig (2185m) and Schindlergrat (2660m), which is now served by a new gondola which stops on top of Schindlergrat or brings you further down to avoid the relatively steep first descent (still a red slope though).

Coming down the mountain from there brings you to Ulmer Hütte for a quick bite for lunch. Nothing too fancy, mostly sausages, soups and pasta. If you fancy a real nice lunch, make sure you book well in advance at Verwallstube (located in the gondola building of Galzigbahn). They are also open for dinner once a week on Thursdays!

I recommend making reservations for dinner in advance. Some places like Fuhrmannstube do not take reservations, but you have a good chance of getting a spot at one of their large tables. The food is good, I especially like the Hirschbraten, which was soft and tender, served with red cabbage (yummy!!) and pommel croquettes.
